Hence the reason 6" longlide guns work, and 7" guns don't. I know if you get too much barrel on a 1911, it will disengage from battery before the bullet leaves the barrel. I would prefer to stay with a gov't length slide due to the longer sight radius, with a slightly extended threaded barrel, but I'm concerned about the function.
